The legendary Los Chamizal vineyard grows just above the fog line right above the town of Sonoma in the southern end of Sonoma Valley. These sustainably farmed vineyards employ permanent cover crops in addition to organic compost and fertilizer to provide nutrients to the soil while banning the use of insecticides. Cool breezes from the San Francisco Bay come up through the Carneros AVA to the south to cool the vineyard at night. Chamizal is a Spanish word that translates to “a thicket of hardwood,” accurately describing the hillside vineyard.
