The renowned Bacigalupi vineyard has become one of the staples of the Russian River Valley. Like the Burgundy wine region of France, Russian River Valley offers an unusually long, cool and even growing season. Lingering fog and wind from the nearby Pacific Ocean provides moderate temperatures throughout the growing season and slows the ripening process. With an extended “hang” time on the vines, the results at harvest are small berries with firm acidity and highly concentrated varietal aromas and flavors. The Bacigalupi family has been growing premium grapes since 1956 and is known for the resulting wine made mostly of grapes from their vineyard being part of the 1976 Judgment of Paris, which put California wine on the map.
