The towering oak presiding over this Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel vineyard is one of history. Perched atop the estate vineyard, this magnificent heritage oak casts its dark shadow over the vines planted on the hillside below. The afternoon shade helps to protect the grapes from the warm, sunny days on the mountain estate. The grapes that ripen under the shadow of this enormous oak tree display a more concentrated fruit characteristic. The cool breezes that start in the early evening gently rustle the leaves of the oak while cooling off the vineyard. The well-drained volcanic soils provide just the right amount of water for the grapes while still providing all the water this towering oak needs.
